Man threatens security guard with knife at North Naples bar, causes a panic
Naples FL January 2 2019
Hundreds of people were thrown into a panic when a man threatened a security guard with a knife near closing time at a bar and restaurant in North Naples early Saturday, according to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Joandy Lorenzogarcia, 24, of Golden Gate, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and disorderly conduct Saturday just before 2 a.m. at Noodles Italian Cafe & Sushi Bar in North Naples.
Deputies arrived on scene as hundreds of people were running through the bar and restaurant’s parking lot, according to the report.
Reports of a man armed with a knife were called in to the Sheriff’s Office, and a deputy located Lorenzogarcia on the side of the restaurant, according to the report.
The deputy held Lorenzogarcia at gunpoint and ordered him to the ground until additional deputies arrived to secure him, according to CCSO.
Before deputies arrived, Jorge Luis Diez Sankers, a security officer at Noodles, removed Lorenzogarcia from the restaurant because he caused a “disturbance,” according to the report.
After being removed, Lorenzogarcia went back to a vehicle to retrieve a knife and then, with knife in hand, walked back toward the entrance of the restaurant where a crowd was beginning to leave, according to the CCSO.
Lorenzogarcia yelled to the crowd, “Where’s the security? I’m going to kill him” while swinging a knife, according to the report.
Multiple people, including Sankers, confronted Lorenzogarcia and removed the knife from his hand, according to the CCSO.
Lorenzogarcia is set to be arraigned Jan. 22. He is being held at the Naples Jail Center with bail set at $11,000.
