Man trespassing at Shasta College charged in assault on officers
Redding CA April 24 2019
A 29-year-old man was arrested at Shasta College on Tuesday morning after he punched a number of Redding police officers, requiring three to seek treatment at a local hospital.
David Wuco, of Redding, was arrested on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury, resisting officers with the use of violence and violation of parole, police said.
Wuco went to the college campus east of Redding on Tuesday morning even though campus security had warned him the day before to stay away.

Campus officers tried to serve Wuco with paperwork Monday telling him to keep off the grounds while sexual misconduct allegations against him were being investigated, police said.
When Wuco returned Tuesday, campus security stopped him and he agreed to have a discussion inside their office, police said.
Redding police said they responded to the college about 7:45 a.m. because of Wuco’s violent history and that he’s on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.
Wuco refused to leave on his own so when officers tried to physically remove him, police said he jumped out of his chair and raised his fists in a fighting stance.
Wuco hit a number of officers in the face. Three of the officers who suffered significant injuries required treatment at a local hospital. More officers responded to the security office to take Wuco into custody.
A witness described what he saw from his parked pickup near the campus safety office.
David Showalter of Shasta Lake said four officers showed up — two motorcycle officers and two in patrol units.
“They went into the security office. Anywhere from about two to five minutes later, one of the big officers came out bleeding profusely from his face. The female officer came out with two other officers, a gentleman in cuffs, (and) took him to a car.

“The next thing I know … the big guy who was bleeding profusely from the face had blood from her face as well and then every cop in Redding apparently showed up,” Showalter said.
He said an ambulance took the male officer away and the female officer was taken away by car.
Wuco is considered high risk after being released from prison in November 2018. He served five years for assault with a deadly weapon.
