Man who killed two campus officers at Bridgewater College gets two life sentences after guilty plea
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. March 2 2024 The man who shot and killed two campus officers at Bridgewater College in Rockingham County in 2022 has been given two life sentences plus six years after pleading guilty to four charges, including two counts of first-degree murder.
According to WHSV in Harrisonburg, 29-year-old Alexander Wyatt Campbell pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm while committing a felony for the fatal shooting of Bridgewater College Campus Police officer John Painter and Campus Safety Officer J.J. Jefferson on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.
Campbell’s trial was originally scheduled to begin in April, according to WHSV.
