Man who robbed $180,000 from two Vegas armored cars gets 11 years 6 months in prison
LAS VEGAS NV July 27 2019 A California man who pleaded guilty to his involvement in a series of Las Vegas armored car robberies was sentenced to 11 years and six months in federal prison.
In April, 23-year-old Phillip Shiel pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, two counts of interference with commerce by robbery, and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Shiel says that in 2017, he conspired with three others to rob three armored cars at gunpoint, telling them to “drop the bags” and then make off with the cash.
Two of the robberies the suspect described were performed successfully, one in front of a Walmart near Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda Road, and the second in front of a Wells Fargo Bank near Bermuda Road and Windmill Lane.
The conspirators were reportedly planning a third robbery in a parking lot when they were found and arrested.
Suspects Trayvale Harrison, Randel Burge, Ianthe Rowland, and Shantae Williams await a jury trial scheduled on August 13 related to the charges.
