Marijuana Security Operations Looking For Pros With Armed Security Skills
BAY CITY MI Nov 23 2019 – Grady Emmons started Precision Risk Management Group in 2006 to provide such services as surveillance investigations and secure diamond transport. But in 2018, Emmons changed the company’s name to Marijuana Security Operations to become a security player in the nascent Michigan cannabis industry.
Now MSO provides security planning, armed guards, and soon secure transportation to the legal Michigan Medical and Recreational Marijuana and Industrial Hemp marketplaces.
“We are weeks away from getting our Secure Transporter Licenses, but we have our Hemp processing handling licenses,” Emmons said. “We still need our inspections, plus the state walk-through for Secure Transporter.”
Emmons said the core of his business is armed guards and secure transport under a high-security model.
“We’ve been moving diamonds around the country for a few years,” he said in an interview with MIMarijuanaReport.Com. “Moving valuable goods around the state or country is our core business model.”
He’s looking to hire men and women with security training as MSO expands. He said some 70- to 80-percent of his staff are veterans. Some are former law enforcement. But the common denominator is armed-security experience. He has 40 employees now, but “I’m always hiring.”
MSO uses low profile cargo vans with partitions. He also posts armed guards at Cannabis facilities who remain overnight.
“We guard 24/7,” he said. “When we get our medical transport license, we’ll also pull a recreational transport license. It will provide more business for transport. Then we’ll add dispensaries and grow centers. We are looking to generate more cannabis and hemp business overall.”
MSO has grown rapidly with the Michigan’s cannabis industry:
MSO has written more than 200 security plans for several municipalities, the State of Michigan, and several other states.
MSO’s armed guards also secure several prominent provisioning, cultivation, processing, and testing facilities throughout the state.
Emmons graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Saginaw Valley State University, and earned a Master of Science degree in Law Enforcement Intelligence & Analysis from Michigan State University.
He has continued to expand his security credentials, achieving the Certified Protection Specialist (CPS) qualification with honors from Executive Security International (ESI). Emmons has also been awarded the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential from the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).
