Maumelle teacher arrested for being intoxicated at school

A Maumelle High School teacher was arrested at school Friday after other teachers reported her as possibly being intoxicated.
Police say Ann Higgins was teaching class when several other teachers noticed “she smelled of intoxicants and she was acting in a strange manner.”
Teachers notified school administration and a school resource officer.
Police say Higgins was removed from class and given a portable breath test, which showed a result of .14. The arresting officer said Higgins smelled of intoxicants and had bloodshot eyes.
Higgins was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Maumelle Police Department for processing. She was given a citation and a court date of June 20.
According to police, Higgins was released into the custody of a responsible party.
