A McDonald’s spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that we have taken the proactive measure of temporarily hiring security guards at our Park Street restaurant.
‘Unfortunately the area around our restaurant has experienced some anti-social issues and this action has been taken in consultation with the local police in order to safeguard our customers and crew.’ A KFC spokesperson said:
‘After some recent anti-social behaviour in the area, we’ve worked in partnership with local police and put security into our Park Street restaurant to help prevent any further incidents.
West Midlands Police did not comment saying it was up to the individual business but St Matthew’s WMP tweeted on Wednesday:
‘Due to an increase in ASB inside and out of KFC on Park St, Walsall Town Centre security are now at the location and anyone causing ASB will be removed and banned.
They added yesterday: ‘All quiet on Park Street in Walsall Town Centre. Security guards at both McDonalds & KFC to deal with any ASB, anyone causing issues will be removed and banned. #saferwalsall #ASB #patrols.’
