Mckeesport security officer critically wounded by teenager
McKeesport PA July 8 2017 Police said a teenager shot a security officer early Tuesday at a high school graduation party in McKeesport.
Allegheny County Police charged 17-year-old Seneca Byrd Jr. with attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by minor and other offenses.
Investigators said the shooting of the security guard happened at the party in the 1400 block of Hamilton Street.
The victim confronted a group of three people who kept coming and going from the party and told them he was not going to keep letting them in, according to a criminal complaint.
The victim told police that he heard the three talking on the sidewalk in front of a neighbor’s house shortly before 1 a.m., and walked over to find one of them — later identified as Seneca — pointing a handgun at him.
Seneca then opened fire and shot the security guard in the stomach, police said.
The victim was taken to UPMC McKeesport and then flown to UPMC Presbyterian where he was listed in critical condition.
Police said the victim knew the shooter’s first and identified Seneca Byrd Jr., in a photo array.
