MD. “special” police officers shoot man who tried running them down during a drug transaction
BALTIMORE MD July 10 2018Â Two State of Maryland Special Police Officers who tried to intercept a drug deal and arrest several men were forced to fire their weapons police said Monday.
Baltimore City Police were called to a shooting near Pimlico Race Track in the 5200 block of Park Heights Ave.
Police say they received a call for a shooting in the parking lot of a methadone clinic.
Once on scene they found a man who’d been shot in the arm by a Special Police officer.
A Baltimore Police spokesman, Detective Jeremy Silbert said the suspect tried to run the officer over with a car before shots rang out.
During the confrontation, at least one special police officer shot the man.
The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He is 26-years old and expected to survive his injuries. The special police officers were not injured during the incident.
Homicide detectives are investigating, that’s protocol for shootings involving officers.

The BPD says Special Police are commissioned by the State.
