The Metropolitan DC police responded to a call of a shooting at a hospital.

A patient shot a gun in the MedStar Washington Hospital Center waiting room Friday evening, according to a statement by hospital officials.

Hospital special police officers responded and were able to control the situation and contact police.

The shooter was taken into custody by police and the weapon was recovered, officials said.

There were no injuries.

DC police did not report any other details.
