Charlotte NC May 10 2017
A Target store that just about to close for the day became the victim of a smash and grab robbery that netted the thieves more than $24,000 worth of Apple products.
The merchandise was stolen just before the store on Walker Branch Drive in Steele Creek closed Monday night.
Police report that three men armed with hammers suddenly approached the electronics area of the store and began smashing their way into cases and then grabbed 29 iPads and 19 Apple watches, police said.
Target officials said they are partnering with local law enforcement to beef up security.
“I’m just glad I didn’t come in here last night. That would have freaked me out,” a costumer said.
Investigators do not have any suspect descriptions. There was no report of injuries.
