Miami strip club security shoot man who tried hitting them with car
MIAMI FL Aug 3 2017 – A man was taken to a hospital early Tuesday after a shooting outside the famous King of Diamonds strip club in Miami, authorities said.
Police said he was later found on the side of Interstate 95, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Detectives said the incident began with some sort of argument between security and a patron at the club.
The patron, identified as Elton Alfredo Jones, 35, reportedly tried mowing down security guards with his car before he was shot.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers were already on the lookout for the white Nissan Altima when they found it stopped on the side of I-95, not far from where Griffin Road meets the highway.
Authorities said the back window was shattered and the front-end had damage. Bullet holes were also shot through the back of the vehicle.
Police said Jones was shot in the arm and lower back.
“I think he was drunk. I don’t know what he was on,” a witness said.
The witness said he had just pulled up to the strip club in a burgundy Mustang when the Nissan slammed into his vehicle.
“(I was) trying to get away from whatever he did, and then he came over the curb and crashed into my car,” he said. “I jumped out of the car. I was trying to defend myself.”
The witness claims Jones pulled out a gun, but detectives said they’re still working to confirm that.
Miami-Dade police did confirm that armed security guards at the club pulled out their guns.
They said at least one of the security guards fired shots into the white car as the driver reportedly tried to run them over.
Some of the bullets went through other cars parked in the lot, police said.
A security guard who was approached by Local 10 News reporter Layron Livingston refused to comment on the incident and club management has not gotten back to him.
Livingston also contacted the strip club’s security company and was told that he would get a call back.
Police said Jones remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation and it’s unclear whether anyone will face charges.
