Midland security officers charged with theft

Two security officers were among four people arrested by Midrand police for allegedly stealing goods at the security company they worked at in President Park.
According to Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the employer saw the suspects in video footage stealing aluminium sheets. It is alleged that the four men arrived at their workplace in a red bakkie during the evening.
“Security allegedly opened for them without registering their vehicle. The two off-duty security officers were allegedly seen loading aluminium sheets in the vehicle and police were called,” said Tlamela.
Police arrested the security officers the following day when they reported for duty. The other two were arrested in Ivory Park.
“They apparently sold the aluminium sheets at a scrapyard in Halfway House. The value of the aluminium sheets stolen is estimated to be worth R30 000,” added Tlamela.
The four are expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court on theft charges.
