Milpitas police nab burglars after quick response to security officer’s call
MILPITAS, CA April 25 2019— Two South Bay men were arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of commercial burglary, the Milpitas Police Department reported Tuesday.
A private security guard called the police at 1:01 a.m. to report a male suspect broke into a construction trailer parked to the rear of Big Al’s and then fled on foot. Officers arrived on scene within two minutes and found two suspects, later identified as Michael Thomas Jones, 45, of San Jose, and Mark Anthony Neff, 53, of Sunnyvale, hiding inside a black Chevy Silverado pickup truck parked across the street from the business, police said. Officers searched the truck and found about $3000 worth of tools that were stolen from the trailer. Jones was also in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.
Jones is on Santa Clara County Probation for grand theft, with a no-bail felony warrant for a probation violation. Neff is on a probationary Post Release Community Supervision in Santa Clara County for burglary.
The men were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Jones faces charges alleging burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and of a controlled substance as well as a felony warrant violation. Neff is up on burglary, conspiracy and possession of stolen property, according to police.
