Missouri Baptist Medical Center security officers fall ill due to unknown substance
St Louis MO Aug 14 2018 Emergency responders gave the all clear at Missouri Baptist Medical Center around 4:30 p.m. Monday after two security guards reacted to an unknown substance they encountered while performing a search of a backpack, hospital officials said.
The hospital contacted local authorities to evaluate the substance. Firefighters said hazmat crews were called in to test the substance.
No other substance could be found when authorities arrived, hospital officials said.
The two security guards were said to be in “satisfactory condition.”
The hospital was fully functional during the incident and no patients were affected, Rachel Kraby, a spokeswoman for the hospital said.
Missouri Baptist Medical Center is located just south of the intersection of Interstate 64 and Interstate 270 in Town and Country.
Police are continuing their investigation.
