More than 1000 police and security officers will be patrolling the Nashville 4th of July event
Nashville, Tennessee July 3, 2021
More than 1000 police officers and private security officers will be on duty in and around the July 4th celebration in Nashville Tennessee.
Preparations are underway for one of Nashville’s major events for the first time in over a year and security of the event and those attending is front and center.
The celebration of “Let’s sing the city of music freely on July 4th” is expected to have more than 400,000 people in downtown Nashville.
Crews had a busy week setting up the stage and preparing for the show. First Avenue and Broadway concert stages have already taken place, with some streets closed by Friday morning.
Police have already issued a public notice that some things will be prohibited downtown during the event including:
backpacks
coolers
weapons
pets
drones
and some other things as well.
In addition, alcohol cannot be taken in or out of the surroundings.
You can bring your own size umbrella, blanket, pouch, folding chair and personal camera.
There are many security plans in place at businesses downtown and extra precautions being taken by Metro police. Law enforcement officers want you to have fun, but say safety starts with you.
“We want everyone to be self-aware on Sunday and say something if they have any doubts or concerns. There are a lot of police officers nearby and they Is very noticeable and not difficult to find, “said Metro Police Chief John Drake.
There are also eight emergency stations throughout the event.
The best advice is to plan ahead. There will be heavy traffic and delays this weekend.
