Morgan State student charged in killing of security guard at nearby apartments
BALTIMORE MD September 28 2022Â Charging documents reveal that a Morgan State University student from Accokeek, Md. faces murder charges in the death of a 19-year-old security guard near the school.
Police arrested 21-year-old Chase Marco Wilson in the 200 block of Water Street on September 26.
Online court records show Wilson faces first and second-degree murder charges, first and second-degree assault charges, and handgun charges.
On August 31, police say Wilson shot 19-year-old Julian Fruh in the head in the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road. Fruh was a security guard for the university, a contracted employee with Allied Universal.
Charging documents reveal that two sandwich bags full of marijuana were found in Fruh’s bookbag, as well as packaging material and a digital scale.
The murder was caught on camera, according to the charging documents. The video shows what appears to be Wilson approach Fruh after a cellphone conversation, according to charging documents. The suspect says something to Fruh, shoots him, and runs off, according to the charging documents.
The killing so close to campus put some Morgan students on edge.
“Just hearing that the arrest has been done I guess it just makes me feel comfortable enough to be able to go out now,” said student Ruth Okolo. “I’ve been going out since it happened, but at the back of my mind I’ve just been thinking, ‘Just how safe am I?'”
