Motorhome driver tried to ram a security guard in downtown San Rafael
San Rafael CA Jan 17 2018 A motorhome driver who allegedly tried to ram a security guard in downtown San Rafael was arrested early Monday in Novato.
The incident occurred Sunday night at 16 Ritter St., the site of the Ritter Center nonprofit serving the homeless. A Barbier Security Group officer saw a man fixing his motorhome on the property and asked him to move along, said San Rafael police Cpl. Rob Cleland.
The driver allegedly threatened the guard and then got in the motorhome to leave. Then he allegedly put the vehicle in reverse and drove at the guard.
The security officer was able to jump out of the way, but the motorhome struck the Barbier Security Group vehicle. San Rafael police alerted other law enforcement agencies to look for the motorhome.
Novato police spotted the vehicle later during the night at 375 Ignacio Blvd. The driver was inside, and police detained him for their San Rafael counterparts.
Adrian Charles Salisbury, 55, of San Rafael, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, hit-and-run driving and drug possession. He remained in custody at the Marin County Jail on Monday evening in lieu of $50,000 bail.
“We are glad our agent was not injured and appreciate the police response,” said Evan Barbier, chief executive of the security firm.
