Mt. Juliet TN officer decommissioned for allegedly assaulting 18-year-old in Nashville
MT. JULIET, Tenn. Aug 25 2022 A police officer in Mt. Juliet has been decommissioned for allegedly assaulting a young woman in Nashville while he was off duty.
According to Mt. Juliet Police, Officer Michael Dyce has been removed from service. He’d been employed with the department since February 2020.
Metro Nashville Police and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) are assisting in the investigation.
A spokesperson for MNPD tells FOX 17 News Dyce was providing security for a private event on July 4.
An 18-year-old acquaintance of Dyce told police she was working a drink tent at 4th and Broadway when the alleged assault occurred. She later reported it to police on July 8.
As of Aug. 24, no charges have been placed, but Mt. Juliet Police say Dyce is cooperating in the investigation.
Chief James Hambrick has issued the following statement:
On Friday, July 8th, we were made aware of allegations towards Officer Michael Dyce of possible criminal wrongdoing that occurred off-duty. Once receiving such information, Dyce was immediately decommissioned and removed from service. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation & Metro Nashville Police Department are conducting a complete and thorough investigation into the allegations, and the investigation remains active as Dyce cooperates.
