Myrtle Beach school security guard arrested for bomb threat against school

A South Carolina high school security guard is accused of making a bomb threat against the school where he works.
Coty Kennedy, 20, wrote a note threatening to “Blow up the school,” according to NBC News affiliate WMBF.
He was arrested Thursday, though it’s unclear when the threat to Myrtle Beach High School was made. The “newly assigned” security guard was released on $5,000 bond.
Police reportedly said Kennedy “confessed to fabricating and presenting a hoax threat to the school administration.”
The suspect is charged with making a bomb threat, conspiring to make a threat, and threatening to destroy a building.
Kennedy allegedly told a school administrator he found the menacing note on the ground. An investigation between the school, the Myrtle Beach police department and the security company that employs Kennedy concluded that wasn’t the case.
“The security officer will no longer be affiliated with Horry County Schools,” the Horry School District said.
