Nashua Rape Suspect, Armed Guard, Posed As Homeland Security Agent
NASHUA, NH Sept 23 2017— A Nashua man was arrested Thursday on charges he raped a woman then threatened her friend with a gun while pretending to be an agent with Homeland Security. Michael Graham, 24, faces a host of charges, including aggravated sexual assault and posing as a law enforcement officer. The alleged rape happened at Graham’s Nashua residence Monday, according to Nashua police Lieutenant Kerry Baxter. Police said Graham has been working as an armed security guard with a private security company but has never been a law enforcement officer.
Following the assaults, the woman called a male friend to pick her up, Baxter said. (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from Nashua Patch.)
“When the male friend arrived, the male friend knocked on Graham’s door,” Baxter said in a statement. “Graham opened his door and pointed a handgun at the male. Graham verbally identified himself as a law enforcement officer and told the male to leave.”
The woman and her friend reported the incident to police and officers arrested Graham early Thursday.
“Graham referred to himself as Homeland Security Law Enforcement,” Baxter continued. “Detectives determined Graham was not a sworn member of Law Enforcement, nor was he employed by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Detectives confirmed that Graham was employed by a private security company as an armed security guard.”
Graham was held on $100,000 bail pending an arraignment Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court. He was charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, false personation and criminal threatening.
