CENTRALIA, IL April 26 2021— A 25-year-old Nashville, Illinois man remains in the Marion County Jail following his arrest early Saturday morning outside SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Cornell Hannah was arrested by Centralia police on multiple charges including aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest and violation of bail bond.

Police responded around 2:30 a.m. Saturday to the hospital after he reportedly phoned a person to pick him up despite being prohibited to have contact with that person as part of his bond release on a Clinton County case.

When Hannah spotted the officers he reportedly attempted to run out a side door of the facility but was stopped by a security guard.

An altercation then ensued resulting in a Centralia police officer suffering a shoulder injury before Hannah was taken into custody.
