Nashville pharmacy shooter gets 29 years in prison after security guard shot at point blank range
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Aug 20 2020 A man who was convicted of shooting an unarmed pharmacy security guard at point blank range has been sentenced to 29 and a half years in prison.
Dionte Breedlove, 26, was found guilty of robberies affecting interstate commerce and using a firearm in crimes of violence last October. He has since been sentenced with 355 months in federal prison.
Officials say Breedlove was convicted in two separate robberies and a shooting at the Rite-Aid Pharmacy on West End Avenue.
These occurred in September and October 2017. At the time, officials said Beedlove was a convicted felon who had spent six years behind bars for another robbery just a couple years prior.
Carlos Valcarcel-Arocho, 22, was also charged.
Valcarcel-Arocho, an employee of the Rite Aid at West End Avenue, allegedly texted Breedlove when the right time would be to come in and rob the store.
Officials said Valcarcel-Arocho posed as the victim in two robberies by Breedlove and helped stuff a bag with cash after opening the safe and register according to the complaint. During one of the robberies in 2017, Breedlove shot a security guard at close range in the chest, leaving the guard with a bullet lodged in his spine.
