Natick police: Woman stole nearly $3,000 in clothes
NATICK MA Jan 29 2019 – A Hyde Park woman stole more than $2,900 worth of clothing from two Natick Mall stores on Saturday, but her accomplice got away before police arrived, authorities said.
Police arrested Khadijah O. Daniels, 24, at Lord & Taylor at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, police spokeswoman Lt. Cara Rossi said Tuesday.
Store security began watching Daniels and the man she was with because they recognized him as being arrested last year at the store after police said he shoplifted.
They watched the pair hide a large amount of men’s Polo clothing in shopping bags and then try to leave, Rossi said.
“Daniels’ co-conspirator fled and was able to get away,” the lieutenant said.
Daniels did stop, and when police looked in her bag, they found more than $1,700 worth of Polo clothing from Lord & Taylor. They also found clothing from Nordstrom. The clothing included an $825 Canada Goose winter jacket and a $350 children’s Burberry sweatshirt, Rossi said. In all, police said Daniels and the man stole $2,908 worth of clothing.
Police charged Daniels with larceny of property worth more than $1,200 and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Police did not identify her alleged co-conspirator because he had yet to be charged. Rossi said he would be summonsed to appear in Natick District Court at a later date to be arraigned on the same charges.
At Daniels’ Natick court arraignment on Tuesday, she was released without bail. Daniels is due back in court on March 8 for a pretrial conference.
