NC mall employee chased after man, shot him to death
SHELBY, N.C. Dec 20 2020 Shelby police said an employee at a store inside the Cleveland Mall chased a man before shooting and killing him Monday afternoon.
Just before 1 p.m., a 911 caller told police that they saw a man with a gun chasing another man through the parking lot of the mall. Moments later, another caller said shots were being fired and that someone had been shot.
Once police got to the scene, they found the suspect and took him into custody. He has been identified as 22-year-old Jacob Isenhour. A Channel 9 crew at the scene could see him in handcuffs.
Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Shelby Police Chief Jeff Ledford identified him as 33-year-old Bryan Francis.
According to detectives, Isenhour is an employee of Dunham’s Sports, inside the Cleveland Mall.
Francis was inside Dunham’s and as he left the store, the security alarm sounded. That’s when Isenhour ran outside across the parking lot to confront him, police said.
Isenhour found Francis near a wood line at the opposite end of the mall parking lot, and that’s when shots were fired by Isenhour, according to investigators.
Isenhour has been charged with first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm inside the city limits. He is being held in the Cleveland County Detention Center without bond.
He will make his first appearance in district court on Dec. 15.
This is an ongoing investigation.
