Nearly 40 years ago, a Hilton Head security officer was killed on duty. Who did it?

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help to solve a 37-year-old murder on Hilton Head Island.
On Oct. 16. 1981, security officer George Davie was shot and killed while standing post at the Port Royal Plantation Security Gate at around 1 a.m. The suspects took Davie’s handgun and fled the scene, presumably in a vehicle.
No suspects were ever identified. The handgun belonging to Davie, 56, was never found.
A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
