New Rochelle sports bar bouncer stabbed in ‘melee’
New Rochelle NY Feb 27 2018
A melee right around the last call at Spectators Sports Pub ended when a Scarsdale man allegedly stabbed the bouncer with a knife shortly before the 4 a.m.
The unidentified bouncer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, said New Rochelle Police Sgt. Kyle Wilson.
Brian Lawrence, 22, of Scarsdale, was arrested and charged with felony assault with a weapon, and remained in custody pending arraignment Monday, Wilson said.
“There was a melee in front of the bar and the bouncer was breaking it up and the next thing you know he was stabbed,” Wilson said.
The bouncer suffered a puncture wound in the right hip and police recovered the suspect’s knife outside the 219 North Ave. sport bar and restaurant, Wilson said.
The stabbing happened around 3:25 a.m. after the fight broke out, and it’s unclear how many people were involved in the donnybrook on the streets of New Rochelle. No other injuries were reported to police.
