NOPD officer working private security has been shot
New Orleans LA July 25 2017 A New Orleans police officer shot early Monday morning is recovering as cops look for the man who shot him as he sat in a car in Uptown New Orleans.
“We had an officer who was working a private, paid, off duty detail in the area of Jefferson and Camp Street,” Chief Michael Harrison said. “One round struck the officer in the leg.”
The injured policeman was listed in good condition at University Medical Center.
Harrison said the officer was on a neighborhood watch detail.
The officer was dressed in his uniform. He was inside a privately owned, unmarked car.
As for the suspect, the chief offered a brief description.
“It appeared to be a very young, African American male driving a light colored SUV perhaps with the back windshield removed or shot out or busted out in some way.”
