Nordstrom Rack security guard stabbed after thief accused of stealing more than $3,000K
Bakersfield CA June 3 2023 A Bakersfield man was arrested Thursday in connection to stabbing a Nordstrom Rack security agent and stealing goods worth thousands of dollars from businesses at The Shops at River Walk.
John Gutierrez, 22, was approached by a security officer on May 25 after he saw Gutierrez steal about $3,000, police reported.
Gutierrez assaulted and stabbed the agent, which caused the man to be hospitalized, police added.
Gutierrez was identified by Bakersfield police officers as a suspect in thefts at Ulta Beauty and another theft from Nordstrom Rack, police added.
Police arrested Gutierrez and said he had a loaded handgun, suspected fentanyl pills and cocaine. He was booked on suspicion of grand theft, second-degree robbery and burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and numerous other felonies.
