Northampton Community College security detain man with hatchets and drugs
BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. Nov 23 2017 Northampton Community College security said that a Bethlehem man trying to sell drugs on campus had a pair of hatchets tucked into his pants.
Jonathan E. Sivonda is facing weapons and drug charges following his arrest Tuesday on the Bethlehem Township college campus. District Judge John Capobianco arraigned the 25-year-old later that night, setting bail at $50,000.
A resident advisor reported that a man later identified as Sivonda approached the advisor, offering to sell something, according to court records. When his offer was refused, Sivonda allegedly said he was going to “cut” the R.A., according to records.
School security was notified. After security stopped Sivonda, they allegedly found two hatchets tucked in his waistband. Security also allegedly found about 14 grams of pot, six Xanax and several empty baggies.
Bethlehem Township police charged Sivonda, of Pembroke Road in Bethlehem, with two counts each of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of prohibited weapons and a single count of terroristic threats.
Sivonda failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for a Dec. 5 preliminary hearing.
As part of Sivonda’s bail conditions, the judge ordered that he undergo a mental health evaluation and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.wfmz
