Northampton man tackled to floor, arrested after allegedly pulling knife on bouncer
Northhampton MA May 29 2019 A 52-year-old Northampton man was brought to the ground and arrested on Saturday after allegedly drawing a knife on a bouncer at the city’s World War II Club.
That night, Radu Chereches arrived at the bar and attempted to enter a dance party in the club’s back room without paying the required cover charge, police said.
A bouncer refused to let him in, prompting a loud and ultimately violent dispute.
“The male was upset and began yelling at the bouncer and bumping into him in a threatening manner,” Northampton Police said in a Facebook post. “The male then pulled out a six-inch knife and displayed it to the bouncer. The bouncer then took the male to the ground.”
When police arrived at the bar around 10 p.m., they saw the bouncer restraining Chereches on the floor. Officers arrested and handcuffed Chereches as he alleged yelled and resisted.
After Chereches was taken outside, police found a knife on the floor where he had been lying.
Chereches is scheduled today for arraignment on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Northampton District Court.
The World War II Club, affectionately known as The Deuce, is both a veterans’ association and a popular nightspot known for its trivia, karaoke and dance nights.
