NYC Security firm owner busted for allegedly stealing over $100K
Brooklyn NY Sept 30 2018
A security company owner was arrested for stealing more than $100,000 from the School Construction Authority by forging business records and overbilling on his contract, officials announced Thursday.
Abdullateef Sanni, 45, owns First Alert Security Services, which provided security guards for construction sites.
Sanni, of Brooklyn, billed SCA for hundreds of employee hours never worked, according to the Department of Investigation and Queens prosecutors.
And he allegedly illegally certified to SCA his employees were getting $17.41 an hour while they were receiving $13.
He carried this out from January 2015 through May 2017, netting $100,954 in ill-gotten gains, according to officials.
“The defendant in this case was entrusted to safeguard the properties of the School Construction Authority,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. “Instead, he is alleged to have used his access and position to con the system in order to line his pockets.”
Sanni faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
