NYPD officer commits suicide at hotel
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Jan 14 2018 — An NYPD officer was found dead Saturday in an apparent suicide in the Hilton Garden Inn, according to police sources.
According to police, an off-duty member of service died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel first responded to the hotel at 1100 South Ave., Bloomfield, at about 12:30 p.m. following a report of someone in cardiac arrest, according to an FDNY spokesman.
A source at the hotel said the incident occurred inside a room at the end of a hallway, and that no guests had to be relocated as a result.
Multiple police cars were still parked outside the hotel at about 2:15 p.m. as police continued its investigation.
A spokeswoman for the hotel said it was a “tragic incident,” and referred all inquiries to police.
