NYU supervisor stabbed after dispute with dorm security guard
New York City NY July 28 2021 A security guard at New York University stabbed his boss five times in the back early Saturday in an “unprecedented” attack in a Greenwich Village dorm, according to cops and the school.
The violence erupted shortly after 1 a.m. inside NYU’s residential hall building on Broome Street when an argument between the 45-year-old NYU public safety officer supervisor and a 38-year-old underling “turned physical,” law enforcement sources said.
“Two security guards at an NYU facility started fighting and one stabbed the other,” an NYPD spokesman said, confirming the victim was stabbed in the torso, neck and shoulder.
The supervisor suffered two fractured ribs and a collapsed lung, police sources told The Post.
The 5-foot-8 perpetrator ran off and was last seen wearing his security uniform.
He was transported to NYU Langone Hospital for treatment, the sources said.
The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening and he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The 5-foot-8 perpetrator ran off, and was last seen wearing his security uniform, a navy blue NYU Security jacket, navy blue cargo pants and a backpack, the sources said.
NYU spokesman John Beckman said guards are normally unarmed and weapon possession is prohibited. The Broome Street Residence Hall, a small upper class dorm, was unoccupied by students at the time of the attack, he added.
“The University is shocked by this unprecedented incident and deeply concerned for the welfare of the injured public safety sergeant,” Beckman said, adding, police and EMS were “immediately called” and “an alert has been issued on campus” banning the wanted assailant from all facilities.
The attacker “has been immediately suspended pending termination,” and the university is cooperating with cops to nab him, the spokesman said.
