Odessa man arrested for assaulting, running over security officer
ODESSA, TX June 23 2018
Odessa police and the United States Marshals Service have arrested a suspect in connection to an assault at the MGM Grande Hotel and Fun Dome Thursday morning.
Michael Anthony Deana Jr., 24, has been arrested and charged with Assault on a Public Servant “1st Degree Felony”.
Police responded to the hotel at 1:38 a.m. on Thursday in reference to a security officer who required assistance. When officers arrived, they observed the officer lying on the ground in the parking lot of the hotel.
Investigation has revealed that the officer attempted to detain Deanda after a disturbance occurred between them. Deanda then pushed the officer and ran him over intentionally in his black Toyota Camry before fleeing the scene.
The security officer was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury.
After obtaining a warrant for Deanda, officers located the suspect in the 2900 block of Brentwood and arrested and charged him accordingly. He has been transported to the ECLEC.
