Off duty 65 year old female Baltimore security officer murdered

Rachel Purviance was watching television in her home at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when she heard a series of gunshots.
Purviance said she waited a little while, then peered out her front door. She saw a commotion up the cherry blossom-lined street and heard a yell: “They shot my grandmother!”
A 65-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were killed in the shooting in the 3900 block of W. Mulberry St. in Allendale, police said. Another man was injured in a separate shooting near Highlandtown on the other side of the city Saturday night, police said. And then on Sunday afternoon, another shooting in Allendale left one man dead, police said.
Both victims in Saturday’s double Allendale shooting were taken to a local hospital and were pronounced dead, police said. A knock at the door of the home where the shooting happened went unanswered Sunday.
The 65-year-old victim worked nights as a security guard, Purviance said. The women used to see each other in passing as Purviance returned home from her job in the women’s surgical center at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson.
“She was a nice person,” she said.
Purviance has lived on the block for about a decade, she said. In all that time, she’s seen nothing like this.
“She came out on the porch to sit down for some air,” she said. “A bullet hit her.”
A Baltimore homicide detective walked the block Sunday morning, knocking on doors. No evidence of the shooting remained, except for a roll of crime scene tape left on top of a fire hydrant.
Calvin Sutton, 51, who also lives nearby, said he was an acquaintance of the woman who was shot and her boyfriend.
“They was talking about moving,” Sutton said. “They was trying to get out of here. For her to get shot, that’s crazy to me.”

Around the same time Saturday night in Southeast Baltimore, officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Noble St., where they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm, according to the police statement. The man was in stable condition at a local hospital Sunday morning.
Police say a preliminary investigation found that the victim tried to flee and was shot after an unidentified male approached him to rob him.
On Sunday at around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Normandy Ave. in Allendale, where they found a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and upper body, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Police did not immediately release the names of the shooting victims.
