Officer Defuses Teen Suicide Threat At Oxford Valley Mall
LANGHORNE, PA Dec 18 2020 — Police in Middletown Township are crediting one of their officers with helping defuse a suicide threat outside Oxford Valley Mall over the weekend.
On Friday night, officers were dispatched to the Macy’s parking lot at the mall, at 2300 Lincoln Hwy. There, they discovered an 18-year-old young man holding a firearm and threatening to kill himself.
According to police, Officer Adam Bailey began talking with the young man and, after a while, was able to take him into protective custody without injury or incident.
Bailey took the teen to Lower Bucks Hospital for a medical and psychological evaluation.
Officers found what turned out to be an airsoft rifle and airsoft pistol, as well as two knives, in the young man’s car, according to police.
“Great work by Officer Bailey to quickly arrive on scene and safely secure the young man without incident or injury,” Middletown Township Police said in a social media post Monday. “Hopefully he will get the help he needs.”
