Ohio man indicted after violent attack on security officer
DAYTON, Ohio November 1, 2023
A Springfield man has been indicted after allegedly attacking a female security guard earlier this month.
According to Montgomery County prosecuting attorney Mat Heck Jr., the defendant, James Timothy Fickling, 25, has been indicted on multiple counts for the incident on Oct. 21.
According to the prosecutor, surveillance video from inside the Premier Health Building at 110 N. Main Street in downtown Dayton captured the defendant entering the building and taking off his clothing.
Shortly thereafter, Fickling allegedly pulled the building’s fire alarm, causing the building’s security guard, a 66‐year‐old female, to confront Fickling before he allegedly attacked her.
According to the prosecutor, Fickling knocked the woman unconscious, landing on her head multiple times. The prosecutor also said Fickling gouged out one of her eyes and severely damaged her other eye.
Fickling is then accused of attacking multiple first responders before being taken into police custody.
On Tuesday, Fickling was indicted on multiple charges, including felonious assault, kidnapping, attempt to commit felonious assault and obstructing official business.
The defendant is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
