Ohio security guard attacked while patrolling car lot
COLUMBUS, Ohio Aug 2 2020 A security guard continues to recover after he says he was brutally beaten by two men while making his rounds in a west side car lot.
“He hit me with a flashlight,” said Ricky who says he was assaulted while asking three people who drove onto the property in a silver Chevy Traverse to leave the lot.
“Four O’clock in the morning,” said Ricky. “You are not coming here to buy up a car, you are here to steal.”
Security cameras from Drive One Auto Sales then show a man approach Ricky, and shove him to the ground, before punching Ricky in the face.
“There was a lot of blood in my eyes,” said Ricky.
A few seconds later a second man walks over to the two and begins kicking Ricky in the face while Ricky is on the ground.
“He kicks me,” said Ricky. “The other guy picks up my flashlight. He hits me on the side of my head.”
The two men and a woman who were in the vehicle can be seen driving away, leaving Ricky lying unconscious in the parking lot.
“I am really frustrated, I am really angry about what happened,” said the car lot owner who also did not want to be identified because the suspects were still at large.
Despite still having a welt and bruises on his forehead, Ricky says he is not giving up his overnight responsibilities of walking the car lot
“They are stealing from these cars,” said Ricky. “You gotta be safe.”
Columbus Police are investigating the robbery and break-in. Anyone with information can call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.
