Ohio security guard shoots himself in the hand

A security guard for the Drake apartments accidentally shot himself in his left hand on Nov. 6 while sitting in his vehicle at the complex.
The Mentor-on-the-Lake man, 26, told officers he was awaiting the start of his shift and making sure his gun was not loaded, as he had used it earlier at a shooting range.
He said he is not permitted to carry a gun while working.
The gunshot also shattered the windshield of his vehicle.
The unnamed security guard was transported to a hospital.
At this time, it is not known if any criminal charges are pending.
