One dead, one injured after shooting inside Richland Fred Meyer store
RICHLAND, Wash. Feb 8, 2022— Richland Police are asking the public to avoid the Fred Meyer on Wellsian Way after reports of an active shooting.
Around 11:04 a.m., police say one person was killed and another injured inside a Fred Meyer in Richland.
According to the Associated Press, a white man with a handgun may have fled the store after the shooting.
Richland police said it is not known if the man got away on foot or in a vehicle.
The man, seen in surveillance stills below, was wearing a plaid shirt with a dark-colored down vest, a black gaiter or scarf pulled over his nose, light colored pants and athletic shoes.
Police escorted employees and customers out of the store as officers searched for the shooter.
As a precaution, local area schools were placed on lockdown.
