Orange Beach police respond to 3 swimmers in distress
Orange Beach AL. July 12, 2022
The Orange Beach police and fire departments spend much of their summer keeping locals and visitors safe on land and in the water.
Monday was no different with at least three different calls about swimmers in distress.
Police and fire departments in this Gulf Coast community are often times the first responders to all distress calls and vessel emergencies.
A 14-year-old from Baton Rouge went missing on a Saturday in June after he was dragged into choppy ocean waters in Orange Beach.
Tyreke Walker, 14, was vacationing with his family to celebrate his birthday and recent graduation from McKinley Middle Magnet School. The teenager loved basketball, and football and was fiercely protective of his sisters, his family said.
He disappeared in increasingly treacherous conditions off the Alabama coast as a storm churned in from the Gulf of Mexico and has not been seen again.
