Orange County deputy charged with receiving child pornography
Orange County FL April 21 2018 An Orange County deputy is charged with receiving child pornography, according to a spokesman with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Deputy Kevin Michael Hutchinson, 36, initially distributed material depicting a prepubescent child engaging in sexual acts through a mobile messaging app on December 26, 2017, according to a criminal complaint.
Hours before federal agents searched his home on Wednesday, he received over a hundred images and videos depicting child porn with girls of ages between 4 and 8-years-old, the complaint said.
When agents questioned the deputy, at first he denied the crime, saying his laptop computer had been broken. He later admitted to authorities that he searched and downloaded child porn onto his computer, authorities said.
The complaint also shows Hutchinson had a file on his computer called “Guide,” which he said contained instructions on “how to be a pedophile.”
William Daniels, a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez, said Hutchinson could face up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Hutchinson has worked for the Sheriff’s Office since August 2016, an agency spokesman said.
