Oregon security guard charged with sending sexually explicit messages to 13 yr old
Gresham OR March 18 2019 A Gresham man was arrested Wednesday after authorities say he repeatedly exchanged sexually explicit messages with a 13-year-old girl and discussed meeting her for sex.
Brandon Cereghino, 23, remained held Friday in the Multnomah County Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor.
A friend of the girl saw texts between Cereghino and the teen on March 7 and told a school official, who then contacted police, according to a probable cause affidavit. The girl later told investigators that she had met Cereghino last year when they lived near each other, the court document said.
After the girl moved away, Cereghino kept in contact her, exchanging sexually explicit photos online and talking about meeting her for sex, the affidavit said. Cereghino sent the girl messages about birth control, mentioned possible places to have sex and told the teen that she could be his “friend with benefits,” according to the affidavit.
Police interviewed Cereghino on Wednesday. He admitted that he knew the girl was 13 and that he had exchanged explicit photos with her, the court document said.
While investigators searched Cereghino’s phone, they found that he had more than a dozen pictures of women’s driver’s licenses, the affidavit said. According to the court papers, Cereghino admitted that while at his job as a security guard at a U.S. Bank, he would take pictures of the driver’s licenses of female customers and later look them up on dating or social media websites.
He doesn’t face charges tied to the photos of licenses, Oregon court records show.
