Out-of-state security guards allowed to aid Florida
TALLAHASSEE FL Sept 10 2017 — With Hurricane Irma expected to devastate Florida in the coming days, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam on Friday executed an emergency order that allows more out-of-state security guards to be qualified to work in Florida. This emergency order allows out-of-state security guards to bolster security needs during the declared state of emergency.
“I will do everything in my power to support local law enforcement, provide additional resources to secure property and protect citizens in the aftermath of this disaster,” Putnam said.
Per the emergency order, the requirement that out-of-state security personnel be currently licensed in his or her state for at least one year is suspended for unarmed personnel only.
Armed out-of-state security personnel shall have been licensed for at least 90 days.
All other provisions of the rule remain in effect.
