Over 8000 security bollards being installed on Las Vegas Strip
LAS VEGAS NV Dec 23 2017
Phase 1 of Clark County’s installation of metal bollards for additional security on the Las Vegas Strip is days away from completion.
Over 750 of the heavy steel bollards were installed along the Strip starting on Nov. 13. The clean up process was scheduled to be completed by Dec. 27, just in time for New Year’s Eve, a Clark County spokesperson said.
The metal posts are capable of withstanding impact from a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at 55 miles per hour.
The new safety measure was implemented after drivers recently plowed down pedestrians in New York and Barcelona, according to officials.
An additional 7,500 bollards were slated to be installed when Phase 2 begins in 2018.
