Pa. school district drops security company after female guard had sex with student
Pittsburgh PA January 13th, 2024 A school district in Allegheny County cut ties with a security company after a school security guard who was employed by the company was accused of having sex with a student.
The action to accept the resignation of the Homeland Intelligence and Protective Services company came one month after the news first surfaced in the McKeesport School District.
Alexis Brown, 24, of McKeesport, was charged Jan. 8 with having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old. male student and having a stolen gun.
Police say they determined Brown initiated the sexual relationship by contacting him on Facebook, saying she had a bet with her friends over who could have sex with him first, both WPXI and WTAJ reported.
A search warrant was also granted for Brown’s house, where a 9mm pistol that was reported stolen out of Pittsburgh was recovered, WTAJ reported.
Additionally, the relationship resulted in Brown becoming pregnant.
“Unfortunately, as one of the board members said, there are things we can control and things we cannot control. What individuals do is on the individual,” District Solicitor Gary Matta said to WPXI.
Brown is now facing charges of institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with minors and receiving stolen property regarding the gun.
She has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 29, WTAJ reported.
While the district interviews for replacement companies, Homeland Intelligence and Protective Services will stay on for up to 60 days.
“All of those guards have the appropriate certifications and approvals. We’ve reviewed all those. Our chief has vetted those to make sure they are accurate,” Matta said to WPXI.
A new company is expected to be chosen by February.
