PA. security professional running for political office
Bethlehem PA Feb 21 2020
A “venue security professional” is running for Pennsylvania state representative in the Bethlehem area, according to a news release.
Republican Scott Hough announced his candidacy last week for the seat in the 135th district, the release says.
“I am not a politician, but in these days I see that as a strong positive for voters who are demanding needed change in how government operates,” Hough said in the release.
Hough provides venue and personal security services at locations around the world, his release says. He previously served as the director of security and events services for the company that manages the PPL Center in Allentown. He also was director of security and event services at the SteelStacks Entertainment Complex and Musikfest in Bethlehem.
He served for 15 years as a Pennsylvania State Constable.
Hough was raised in Bethlehem and graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School and DeSales University in Upper Saucon Township. His grandfather retired from Bethlehem Steel and his mother, Patricia Mitchell, owns a small business on Bethlehem’s historic Main Street.
The seat in the 135th district is now held by Democrat Steve Samuelson. The district includes the Northampton County portion of Bethlehem and part of Bethlehem Township.
“Like many of my neighbors, I believe we need citizen representatives who have the courage to go to Harrisburg and change government – not be changed by the politicians or trappings once there,” Hough said.
Scott and his wife, Laci, have a son, Brayden. Their son attends Freedom High School. Hough volunteers at his church, with youth sports and with the Boys Scouts of America.
