Palm Beach security guard arrested in felony armed assault
Palm Beach County FL Aug 9 2017 A 21-year-old security guard from West Palm Beach faces charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at another man Sunday.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joey Garcia on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday on a $5,000 bail.
The accuser told deputies he was in the area of Purdy Lane and Haverhill Road at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when Garcia approached driving a red Subaru and pointed the gun.
The accuser took out his cellphone to call police, and Garcia drove away without further incident, heading south on Haverhill, the sheriff’s office said.
Garcia’s car was spotted by deputies at Lake Worth Road and Haverhill, about a mile south of the alleged incident, and pulled him over.
A deputy removed a small black semiautomatic handgun from Garcia’s possession, the sheriff’s office said.
While being questioned, Garcia denied making any threats. He told deputies he saw a man he knew, but merely drove past him.
