Palm Springs security officer finds female homicide victim

The Palm Springs Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning on Cherokee Way as a homicide after a security officer on patrol found a woman deceased.
Authorities said detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide but did not indicate why that determination was made.
Police responded responded to Cherokee Way, which is located north of East Palm Canyon Drive near the Oasis Resort, at just after midnight Monday after receiving a call that shots had been fired there.
A security guard responding to the area found the 38-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman inside a vehicle.
According to the Facebook post, the woman suffered an apparent gunshot wound while she was seated in the driver’s seat as it was parked. She was pronounced dead on scene. Palm Springs Police have not yet publicly identified the woman.
The Palm Springs Police Department is seeking information from anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident.
